Hi, I’m Kailyn, the creator behind Thistlehop Studio!

I craft block printed clothing, prints, and greeting cards inspired by the magic of the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised here, my work is rooted in a love for nature, adventure, and community.

Each design starts as a sketch before I carve it by hand, bringing a little whimsy and joy into everyday life. I’m passionate about using sustainable and upcycled materials and love connecting with others through art that sparks memories and tells stories.

I create from a tiny corner studio in my Ballard apartment (but more often on the floor), but I’ll take any opportunity to carve or print—whether deep in the forest, out on a sailboat, or wherever inspiration strikes. Always under the watchful eye of my studio assistants, Sage and Hops, my ever-curious cats who keep me company through every sketch, carve, and print

Sustainability Practices

At Thistlehop Studio, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that creating art and products should not only bring joy but also help minimize our impact on the environment. While we may not always get it perfect, we try our best to make sustainable choices in every aspect of our process. Here’s how we’re making a difference:

We prioritize using organic cotton and other sustainable fabrics for all new items, ensuring that each piece is kind to the planet. For our upcycled creations, we breathe new life into materials and give them a second chance to shine. Each upcycled item is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation that incorporates elements of the original material, making it a truly special addition to your wardrobe or home.

Every design at Thistlehop Studio starts with a hand-drawn sketch, followed by the careful process of carving and hand-stamping. This not only creates unique, one-of-a-kind products but also reduces the need for mass production, helping to minimize waste.

We use minimal, recyclable, and biodegradable materials for packaging, ensuring that your orders arrive with as little environmental impact as possible.

We collaborate with like-minded local businesses who share our sustainability values to produce select items like our embroidered hats and stickers, further reducing our carbon footprint and supporting small-scale artisans.
